Shree Guru Govind Singh Jee Govt. Degree College has
established itself as one of the few excellent academic institutions
of Himachal Pradesh ever since it inception way back in 1994.
Paonta Sahib is famous for its religious afnity to Sikhism as
Shree Guru Gobind Singh Jee, the 10th Guru, sojourned here and
spent his four years meditating and experience in spirituality
between 1685-1689. The college derived its name after Shree
Guru Gobind Singh Jee to commemorate the Tercentenary year of
th dawn of 'Khalsa' in 1999. The college campus, spread over a
wide area of about 40 big has of land, is located at Subh Khera
village at a distance of 1.5km form Paonta Sahib bus stand. The
college is being given new shape by erecting new IT lab and
academic block and well maintained play ground. The college is
afliated to the HP University, Shimla and has been granted
recognition by the University Grants Commission. A team of
dedicated faculty members imparts knowledge to students of
degree and diploma courses. The college has well equipped
computer laboratories, well stacked library, sports, scouting, NSS
facilities. This college has a glorious record of excellence and
noticeable achievements in academics, sports, culture and other
elds over last fteen years.
Over the years, the college has acquired repute for the
quality of education imparted to the students, the discipline and
dedication of the and students and the sense of social
responsibility within its walls. Extra curricular activities like sports,
music, scouting , NSS etc engage students when they are not in
class.
